Hi, I'm Alon Shrestha — a Principal Platform Engineer documenting my journey to become a better cloud architect.

Why This Blog Exists

This website is my personal learning log — built with my concepts and Amazon Q as my coding companion. It's where I document everything I learn while growing as a cloud architect, shared openly with the world.

My Background

My cloud journey started during my IT degree when I landed a CloudOps internship. Working with Linux VMs, exploring workflows, and deploying applications using automation tools in the cloud fascinated me.

That internship sparked a passion that led me to my current role as Principal Platform Engineer. I realized I was on a promising path and wanted to deepen my expertise in this rapidly evolving field.

You can find my letter on cloud journey here.

What I Write About

I share experiences and insights across cloud infrastructure domains:

  • FinOps: Cloud cost optimization and financial operations
  • Architecture: Cloud architecture patterns and distributed systems
  • System Design: Building scalable systems and understanding trade-offs
  • CloudOps & DevOps: Operational excellence and automation
  • Cloud Security: Securing cloud environments and workloads

My expertise centers on AWS, and I continue exploring new areas as I discover them.

My Approach

This isn't a tutorial site from an expert. It's my commitment to learning in public — documenting discoveries, sharing challenges, and building knowledge alongside the community.

I believe sharing knowledge is essential for growth. Every post reflects real experiences, not theoretical concepts.

Let's Connect

If any part of this resonates with you, I'd love to connect. Let's learn, collaborate, and grow together in this dynamic field.

It's wonderful to have you here.
